WHEN MUM MAKES A CAKE
When my Mum makes a cake
I love to scrape the bowl.
I use a little spoon
So not to finish it so soon
And when it’s nearly gone
I tend to look forlorn
If not a little sad
But I’m a greedy lad
I put my face into the bowl!
I become such a sight
It would give a ghost a fright
Chocolate on my face and hair
I’ve got chocolate everywhere
Mum says ‘In the bath you pop.
I’ll scrub your icky, sticky top.’
Now I’m back where I have been
Dried and neat and shiny clean
I clap my hands and watch and sing
While Mum makes the icing
‘Mum, can I scrape the bowl?’
Mum smiles and quietly sighs
And this is what she then replies
’Only if you say I may
Give you a second bath today.’
